About Us

The Davidsons at Pulau Rawa in Malaysia - October 2006

We're Mark & Rebecca Davidson, teachers at Singapore American School.  We met in 2001 while both teaching school in Shanghai, China and were married in August 2002. Our beautiful daughter, Roxanne Mei, was born March 23, 2005 and our darling son Rhys was born October 6, 2006.  'Parenting' tops our list of favorite activities!

Here's a bit about each of us.

Mark

Mark is from Bundaberg in Queensland, Australia (home of the famous Bundaberg Rum) where he spent his childhood on a sugar cane farm with his parents and his three older siblings.  Growing up he learned the value of hard work on the farm and decided that taming the land was definitely not challenging enough, so he decided to tame kids instead!  Mark has been a teacher for 14 years now and has taught children from Grade 2 up to Grade 7.  Right now, he teaches Grade 4 at Singapore American School where he has a class of 22 fantastic students.  You can visit their class Web site to learn more about them.  Mark enjoys playing golf with friends, keeping up with Australian sporting events, cooking, and he loves to travel - the more excuses to put some miles on the Macpac, the better!

Rebecca

Rebecca grew up in a small town called Dover, Tennessee.  She is the eldest of seven siblings, so peace and quiet is one of her favorite things.  Her interest in music started in elementary school and it has taken her across the country and around the world, first as a radio announcer at NPR classical music stations WKMS in Kentucky and WSCL in Maryland, then as a music teacher in International Schools.  She enjoys her role as a part-time director of the Middle School Tiger Band at Singapore American School.  Rebecca enjoys playing her Lawson French Horn, dinners with friends, attending her book club and traveling.

Roxanne

Roxanne was born on 23 March, 2005 at 10:23 pm.  She's a walking, running, climbing wonder who loves animals, the wading pool and riding her tricycle.  Roxy attends Pre-School every afternoon at "Daddy's School".  She loves to read and sing and she is obsessed with "making her dreams come true" a la the Disney Princesses. If her present level of perseverance is anything to go by, we're sure it'll happen for her. Her ability to communicate astounds us and her energy and zeal for life are infectious.  She loves being a big sister!

Rhys

Rhys was born 6 October, 2006 at 11:39 pm.  He's about the happiest little guy anybody has ever met!  We love watching him dance and play.  He loves Backyardigans and Wonderpets and most days insists we address him as "Tuck" or "Tyrone".  He knows his colors and shapes and can sing lots of songs.  We can't wait to see what he'll do next!
